Kingshurst Bribar retained the Maurice Goldstein Cup, with a 5-3 victory over a Presidents Select side, at the Ivy Leaf club. Current Birmingham champion Steve Bertie was unbeaten for Kings, although Midland League star Edward Lynn gave the city champions a fright, with excellent wins over Michael Browne and Scott Prime.
The youngsters of Kingshurst Bribar ‘G’ had a
comfortable victory over an experienced Streetly ‘B’ outfit, in the Callaghan
Cup final.
Mitchell Nash, Tom Moy and Buster Cobley, are three
14 year olds of tremendous promise, who had already gained promotion from
Division Five this season.
Baverstock ‘B’ clinched the Steve Smith Cup
by 41 points against Streetly ‘C’, in a match between six junior players.
The Baverstock trio of Lee Holtham, Stefan
Brown and Ryan Percival, were fast out of the blocks, which proved the decisive
factor in the match.
The Kingshurst club have moved to the Smiths
Wood Community Centre and will now be known as Smiths Wood Bribar.
“The facilities and conditions are first
class and we are indebted to the Smiths Wood Parish Council for their help”,
insisted club leader Simon Upson.
