Ian Ferguson has challenged the rest of the Midland League teams to try and stop his young multi talented Birmingham team taking the title.  "We are the team to beat, there is no doubt about that," insisted the powerful attacking star.  Nuneaton are the opponents in the opening fixture at the Colebridge Club on Sunday (2pm), with Fergie being joined by Curdworth team-mate Sasha 'The Tzar' Groghotov and Edward Lynn (Colebridge).

Steve Taylor showed promoted Hall Green B the step up in class, in the Premier Division, with an easy treble for Streetly A.  The new boys fought back however, with the consistent John Ludford picking up two singles in a 5-5 draw.

Bournville showed why they are favourites for the Division One title, with a comfortable 7-3 success over Colebridge Giants.  Bhavesh Amlani is a cut above this section and showed it in his maximum.

Mick Bere, Roger Townson and Chris Allen, got Hall Green D off to a flier in the second Division, as all three were unbeaten in singles, in a 9-1 mauling of Streetly 'B'.  Smithereens and Hall Green C drew 5-5, despite the visitors only fielding two players.  Ian Scott included a surprisingly easy win over the talented Simon Bailey, in his maximum.  Beaufort Sports B were much too good for a depleted Colebridge Hawks outfit, with Tony Stewart and Rob Sheldon unbeaten in an 8-2 victory.

Newly formed Ivy Leaf gained a 7-3 home win over Bournville B in Division Three, thanks to a Paul Thomas treble.  Alan White and Chris Hall were both in top form for Walmley 'A', in their 8-2 victory over their B team.

Fadi Ezaddin was unbeaten on his league debut for Colebridge Jaguars in Division Five.  The big hitting Palestinian looks a likely candidate for individual honours in this section, although the experienced Jim Ferguson gave him a tough match.  Jaguars cruised home 7-3 against Baverstock C, with youngster Dean Bayliss making a promising debut for the visitors.
