Kingshurst 'A' inflicted a 10-0 mauling on strugglers Broadway in the Premier Division. England ranked cadet, Jack Williamson, just edged Steve Robinson 11-8 in the decider, but after that it was one-way traffic, with Michael Browne and Steve Bertie in majestic form for Kings. Colebridge Aces started the second half of the season, with a hard fought 6-4 success at Beaufort Sports 'A'. Edward Lynn had a maximum for Aces, which included an 11-9 in the decider over Jon Ludlow, in the match of the night. Lindon Douglas remains in superb form for Hall Green 'B' and he recorded another three wins at Streetly "A'. John Ludford ensured the win for Green, with a nail biting success over the reliable Steve Taylor.
Mark Hadley showed his best form of the season for Colebridge Eagles in Division
One, to gain an impressive maximum at Jacombs 'A', in a 5-5 draw. Barry
Sterling had narrow wins over both Mahroof Hussain and Alan Hall, to ensure a
share of the spoils for the home side. A Dave Ameghino treble saw West Midlands
Police home 6-4 against Sandwell Unison.
Hall Green 'C' and Smithereens were involved in a magnificent advert for the
game in Division Two. Green went 5-1 up against the leaders, with Ian Scott in
supreme form, but Smithereens roared back, thanks to crushing three straight
wins for Steve Smith, against both Steve Pinder and Dean Harvey. George Webb
won three singles for Sutton Coldfield 'C', in their 7-3 victory over their 'E'
team. Hall Green 'D' and Streetly 'B' drew 5-5, as did Sutton 'D' and
Colebridge Falcons, with only John Cox of Falcons unbeaten.
Darren Williams led Bournville 'B' to a 7-3 triumph over Ivy Leaf 'A' in
Division Three.
Ron Fraser gained his usual treble for West Midlands Police 'B' in their 6-4 win
at Colebridge Indians in Division Five. Jacombs 'C' won 6-4 at Ivy Leaf 'B',
courtesy of a Daniel Rowe treble, which included an exciting 13-11 in the fifth
victory over Ian Fellowes.
