League Week 12 Extra

 

Curdworth and Kingshurst Bribar 'A' are still neck and neck for the Premier Division title in the Birmingham League, following the latest round of matches.  Ian Ferguson, Andy Hare and Phil Burwell helped champions Curdworth to a 10-0 thrashing of Streetly 'A', while Kingshurst hammered Sutton Coldfield A' 9-1, which saw maximums from Mike Browne and Scott Prime.  Andy Evans of West Midlands Phones 'A' remains high in the individual list, after another maximum against Kingshurst 'C', in a 5-5 draw. The vastly improved Sarah Riach took Evans to five games.  Ray Dixon and Pete Roddy were both unbeaten for Colebridge Aces in an 8-2 success over Streetly 'A', with Terry Cooper and Bemi Okunribido both beating Mick Kendall for Streetly.  Kingshurst 'B' romped home 9-1 over Land Rover 'A', as county junior Alan Caffrey and veteran Roger Morris won three each.

 

Jon Ludlow and Tony Stewart gained maximums for Beaufort Sports 'A' in a 9-1 win at Sutton 'C' in Division One, with Jacombs 'A' going down 7-3 at home to Bournville 'A'.  Bavesh Amlani of Bournville was taken the distance for the first time this season by Mark Georgevic.

 

Smithereens kept up their promotion challenge in Division Two, by winning 7-3 at St Chads, with attacking star Simon Bailey gaining another maximum.

 

Bournville 'C' beat Land Rover 'E' 7-3 in Division Three, as Bruce Barrett added to his fine record with another three wins, which included five game successes over Nigel Bishop and John Dineen.

 

Pete Vigus of Hockley Heath 'C' was the only unbeaten player in their 5-5 draw with Beaufort Sports 'C' in Division Four.

 

Major shock in Division Five, where Ron Fraser of West Midlands Police lost his unbeaten record to James Watts of Kingshurst 'F', in a 6-4 win for Kings.  Police had earlier won 8-2 at Jacombs 'B'.  Sutton 'I' hammered Jacombs 8-2, which saw Ron O'Malley and Belle Halliwell unbeaten and Sutton won again with a 10-0 mauling of Beaufort Sports 'D'.  Tony Badham notched a hat trick of wins for Streetly 'D' against their 'C' team, but his side were beaten 6-4.   Quinborne 'B' gained a 7-3 win at Baverstock 'B', thanks to a Maurice Eggleton treble.
