Edward Lynn, who has helped Birmingham into second place in the Midland League, showed his quality in the Premier Division of the Birmingham League.  The lightning quick attacker gained a maxium for Colebridge Braves against West Midland Phones 'A', as his side clinched a 7-3 victory.


Hall Green 'B' has ordered the title champagne in Division One, following their 8-2 thumping of Colebridge Giants.  Individual leader Dean Hicks was again in awesome form for Green, but backhand specialist Brian Morris played well for the visitors, to record two victories.  Mark Georgevic, Barry Sterling and Dave Linz produced a superb effort as strugglers Jacombs 'A' beat Kingshurst Bribar 'D' 7-3, despite a classy treble from Roger Morris for Kings.  Kingshurst had previously earned a 5-5 draw at Land Rover 'B', thanks to another Morris treble.  Sutton 'A' stay in the promotion hunt with a 6-4 home win over Hall Green 'A', although Steve Pinder remains in fine form for Green, with another maximum.  Mark Hadley had a crucial 11-5 in the fifth win over George Hutton, which saw Colebridge Eagles beat Sandwell Unison 6-4 and move into second place.


Dan Ranford kept himself in individual contention in Division Two, as his team Quinborne 'A' drew 5-5 with underachieving Smithereens.  Howard Knight showed a welcome return to form for Sutton 'C', in their 6-4 success over Colebridge Falcons.

 
Tim Stevens was man of the match for Walmley 'B' in their 5-5 draw with Land Rover 'E' in Division Three, beating the talented John Dineen in the final set.  High Flying Beaufort Sports 'B' won 6-4 at Sutton 'E', with a fine team effort from Alan Thompson, Rob Sheldon and Ash Kapadia.  Hall Green 'C' and 'D' both lost, to Bournville and West Midlands Phones respectively.  Darren Williams led Bournville to a 7-3 triumph with a maximum, while Dave Lyne was untroubled for Phones in a 6-4 win.


David Ranford was a class above his opponents from Colebridge Indians in Division Four, as Quinborne 'B' swept to an 8-2 victory.  Walmley 'C' and Sutton 'F' drew 5-5, with Sutton's Andrew Nicol the only unbeaten player.


Wilf Jones returned to action at the age of 81, to help out Land Rover 'F' in their 6-4 win at Lodge Road in Division Five.  He beat both Alton Burnett and Tony Shim and combined with Alan Winspur to a doubles success.  Beaufort Sports 'D' won 6-4 at West Midlands Police, despite Ron Fraser winning his usual three for Police.
