Colebridge Aces look assured of second place in the Premier Division following an impressive 9-1 victory over Bournville 'A', which saw maximums from Ray Dixon and Neil Wheatley. Terry Cooper was the man in form for Streetly 'A' in their 6-4 success at Land Rover 'A'.
F.Jacombs 'A' and Sutton Coldfield 'B' fought out a 5-5 draw in Division One,
which saw Sutton's Nabil Khalfey stay in the individual race with three smart
wins. Brian Morris of Sandwell Unison just edged Roger Morris 13-11 in the
fifth, in a pulsating battle, which was instrumental in the 7-3 victory over
Kingshurst Bribar 'D'. Morris has had an excellent second half of the season
and remains high up in the individual list. Land Rover 'A' gained an important
5-5 draw at Colebridge Eagles, which gives them a favourable chance of joining
Hall Green 'B' in the Premier Division. Ann Lloyd was outstanding for Eagles,
recording an impressive treble. Hall Green 'B' beat their 'B' side 7-3, with
maximums from Dean Hicks and John Ludford.
Sutton 'D' and Streetly 'B' drew 5-5 in Division Two, as Streetly's Dave Bissell
stamped his class on the match with a maximum, which included an 11-9 in the
fifth success over individual leader Martin Round. Smithereens are in a rich
vein of form and recorded an emphatic 8-2 victory over Walmley 'A'. Simon Bailey
recorded a hat trick for Smithereens. Colebridge Falcons and Land Rover 'C'
fought out a 5-5 draw, with Rover's Roger Townson the only unbeaten player.
George Webb led Sutton 'E' to a 6-4 win at Walmley 'B', although Maurice Clayton
took him the distance, losing 11-7 in the fifth. Beaufort Sports 'B' hammered
Bournville 'B' 9-1, with excellent trebles from the big hitting duo of Carl
Mountjoy and Rob Sheldon. West Midland Phones 'B' and Land Rover 'E' ended 5-5,
with Rover's John Dineen winning three singles for the visitors.
Youngster Luke Baker was in sparkling form for Baverstock 'A' in their 7-3
victory over Jacombs 'B' in Division Four. Beaufort Sports 'C' go roaring on in
this division, with their latest success being an emphatic 8-2 triumph at
Quinborne 'B'. Ash Kapadia was again in impressive form for the visitors.
Streetly 'C' crushed fellow strugglers Colebridge Indians 8-2, as Stuart Oakes
gained an easy treble.
Ron Fraser picked up three singles for West Midlands Police against Lodge Road,
but the visitors won the other seven sets. Ron Harze was unbeaten for Beaufort
Sports 'D' in a 7-3 home win over Jacombs 'C', while Streetly 'D' enjoyed a 6-4
victory over Sutton 'G'.
