The Kingshurst Bribar 'A' trio of Mike Browne, Chris Leach and Scott Prime swept aside Bournville 'A' 10-0 in the Premier Division of the Birmingham League and look a sound bet to retain their title. Colebridge Aces have yet to drop a game, after successive 10-0 performances against Beaufort Sports 'A' and Streetly 'A'. Birmingham Midland League captain Edward Lynn had a maximum in Colebridge Braves 6-4 success over Streetly, but was beaten by Helen Turner in the 6-4 defeat of Kingshurst Bribar 'C'. Turner, who has made a magnificent start to the season, also had a stunning win over British League star Navinder Matharu, who was also comfortably beaten by rapidly improving Sarah Riach. Kingshurst Bribar 'B' just edged their 'C' team 6-4, despite a treble from Turner. West Midlands Phones 'A' and Bournville 'A' drew 5-5, with Bhavesh Amlani in superb form for the visitors.
Andy Choi had a maximum for Sutton 'A' against their 'B' team in Division One, in an 8-2 thumping, whilst Dean Hicks kept his unbeaten record for Hall Green 'B' in an 8-2 win at Jacombs 'A'. Barry Clarke was player of the match for Land Rover 'B', as they drew 5-5 with Sandwell Unison. Rover had gone down 6-4 to Kingshurst Bribar 'D' in their opening fixture. Mahroof Hussain was unbeaten for Colebridge Eagles in an 8-2 success over Hall Green 'A'.
Matt Allen stunned promotion favourites Smithereens in Division Two with an excellent maximum, which saw the visitors come away with a 6-4 triumph. Ann Lloyd was unbeaten for Colebridge Falcons against Land Rover 'D', beating both Tony Arends and Rex Gines over five games. Arends and Paul Thomas had previously won three singles each in the 7-3 victory over Walmley 'A'.
Bruce Barrett had a treble for Bournville 'C' in their 7-3 win over Walmley 'B', while Bournville 'B' also won 7-3 against Land Rover 'E' despite three wins for John Dineen. Yaj Ghosh and Bernard Oliver were both unbeaten for Hall Green 'C' in their 8-2 victory over West Midlands Phones "B'.
Quinborne 'B' edged Hall Green 'E' 6-4 thanks to a treble from David Ranford in Division Four. Jacombs 'B' drew 5-5 with Walmley "C', but lost to Colebridge Indians 8-2, for whom Tim Fell and Rajinder Davsi won three each. Luke Baker was unbeaten for Baverstock 'A' against Sutton 'F', beating Derek Turner, Dave Butler and John Pepper all in the decider in a 7-3 score-line.
Streetly 'D' hammered Kingshurst Bribar 'F' 10-0 in Division Five, but were then held to a draw by the wily veterans of Land Rover 'F'. Rover also drew 5-5 with Beaufort Sports 'C', as Alan Winspur gained a maximum.
