Birmingham face another tough test in their quest for a first Midland League title for a decade, with the visit of Leicester to the Colebridge Club on Sunday (2.30pm).  Ian Ferguson, Sasha Grokhotov and Edward Lynn will again form the Birmingham line-up, following their thrilling victory over current champions Leamington in November.  "There are no easy games in this league," declared Birmingham skipper Ferguson. "We will face quality opposition in Andy LeButt and Dave Grundy, but we have been on fire so far this season and we are after that title."


Ferguson and Grokhotov are also leading the Curdworth challenge in the Premier Division.  The duo were again maximum men in the 9-1 victory over Broadway, with Phil Burwell also chipping in with two singles wins in his first appearance of the season.  Streetly had a crucial 6-4 win at Broadway, with the unorthodox Terry Cooper in sparkling form.  Tony Carter continued a fine season for Kingshurst Bribar 'B', with a triple in the 8-2 mauling of strugglers Beaufort Sports 'A'.  Hall Green "B' enjoyed a 6-4 win over Colebridge Aces, courtesy of a stunning hat-trick from Lindon Douglas.

 
Sutton Coldfield 'B' had a hard fought 6-4 success over Colebridge Giants in Division One.  The leaders were indebted to a maximum from Nabil Khalfey.  West Midlands Police 'A' went 5-0 up at Colebridge Eagles, before Eagles clawed their way back to 5-4.  Silvanus Ward copped the final set 11-5 in the fifth against pen holder Mark Hadley, to give Police the win.  Sutton 'A' had a crucial 7-3 success at Quinborne, to enhance their promotion hopes.  Clive Stretton was back to his whirlwind best, beating all three opponents in the deciding game.


Sutton Coldfield 'E' had a thumping 9-1 away victory at rock bottom Colebridge Hawks in Division Two, as Pete Worship and Andy Nicholl both rattled up maximums.  A fine team effort from Hall Green 'C', gave them a 7-3 triumph at Sutton 'C'.  Chris Allen continues in supreme form for Hall Green 'D', gaining a maximum at Beaufort Sports 'B', but the home side still registered a 6-4 win.

 
Baverstock 'A' go marching on in Division Three, in a 9-1 mauling of Walmley 'C'.  Individual leader Scott Danter, Ian Anson and Luke Baker all registered maximums.  Darren Williams and Tony Sheldon were both unbeaten for Bournville 'B' in their 7-3 victory over Kingshurst Bribar 'E'.  Paul Thomas had treble success for Ivy Leaf 'A' against Hall Green 'E' in a 6-4 win. Beaufort Sports 'C' went down 7-3 at Walmley 'A', despite a superb treble from Ash Kapadia.  Colin Platt gained a maximum for West Midlands Phones, in their 8-2 home win over Bournville 'C'.


Streetly 'D' suffered defeats against both Jacombs 'B' and Kingshurst Bribar 'F'.  The Jacombs trio of Robert Spiers, Lesley Prais and Howard Lewis handed out a 10-0 thrashing, while David Lewis was unbeaten for Kings, in a 7-3 triumph.  Alton Burnett ensured a share of the spoils for Lodge Road at Walmley 'C', with a thrilling 15-13 in the fifth victory over combination bat specialist Tim Stevens.  Streetly 'C' just edged Sutton Coldfield 'F' 6-4, as Shane Gales got the better of Sutton's Farhan Petkar in four games.

 
Division Five leaders Colebridge Jaguars confirmed their position, with a 9-1 drubbing of Ivy Leaf 'B'.  Tim Fell and Fadi Ezaddin were both maximum men for Colebridge.  Baverstock 'B' beat their C team 7-3, despite a hat-trick from Jim Ferguson.  Ron Fraser notched his usual maximum for West Midlands Police 'B' in the 5-5 draw with Sutton 'H'.  The Kingshurst Bribar 'G' youngsters inflicted a 9-1 on Jacombs 'C', as Perry Nash and Tom Moy both grabbed maximums.  Jacombs 'C' registered a 7-3 win at Colebridge Indians, as Barry Sullivan was unbeaten.
