Navinder Matharu, the Birmingham Midland League star, inflicted a rare defeat on England veteran Ray Dixon, as Colebridge Braves gained the bragging right against club-mates Colebridge Aces, in a 6-4 success, in the Premier Division.  Kingshurst Bribar 'A' crushed their 'B' team 9-1, with trebles from Chris Leach and Warwickshire Closed champion Scott Prime, to continue their relentless march to retaining their title.  Steve Taylor was in magnificent form for Streetly 'A' in their surprisingly easy 8-2 win over Kingshurst Bribar 'B', although Alan Caffrey took him to 11-9 in the fifth.  Land Rover 'A' snatched a share of the spoils in a 5-5 draw with Kingshurst Bribar 'C', with reserve Barry Clarke beating both Helen Turner and Sarah Riach.

 

Hall Green 'B' are starting to feel the pressure in Division One, with the long term leaders involved in a 5-5 draw with Sandwell Unison, for whom Brian Morris and the experienced George Hutton won two singles each.  Defensive ace Frank Cotter showed the big hitting youngsters from Sutton 'B' the way, as Colebridge Giants edged it 6-4, while Bob Allcock remains in  great form for Land Rover 'B' as they crushed Hall Green 'A' 8-2.  Sutton 'A' ended the first half of the campaign on a high, with a 9-1 demolition of Colebridge Eagles, which saw Graham Williams start the match with a 15-13 in the fifth victory over Ann Lloyd of Eagles.

 

The only match in Division Two ended all square between Colebridge Falcons and Sutton 'D', with individual leader Sutton's Martin Round gaining another maximum.

 

Newcomer George Webb was in fine form for Sutton 'E at Land Rover 'E' in a 7-3 success for his side in Division Three.  Webb was beaten by the improving Mike Evetts in the fixture with Hall Green 'D', but Sutton still recorded a 7-3 win, while Evetts gained a maximum in the 6-4 triumph over Walmley 'B'.  Hall Green 'C' are handily placed in the division and beat Bournville 'C' 6-4, whilst Alan Thompson gained a fine treble as Beaufort Sports 'B' inflicted a 7-3 on Walmley 'B'.

 

Howard Lewis was unbeaten as Jacombs 'B' beat Hall Green 'E' 7-3 in Division Four.  Beaufort Sports 'C' go marching on, hammering Sutton 'F' 8-2 in their latest fixture, as Ash Kapadia reeled off another maximum.  Kapadia and Ray Cobley were both unbeaten in another 8-2 success at Walmley 'C'.  Quinborne 'B' had mixed fortunes, beating Baverstock 'B' 7-3 and losing 6-4 to Sutton 'F'.

 

Streetly 'D' came back from 5-1 down at home to Jacombs 'C', to draw 5-5 in Division Five, thanks to a Dave Gregg maximum, while Land Rover 'F' were involved in their fifth draw of the season against Baverstock 'B'.  Ron Fraser gained his usual three singles for West Midlands Police in their 5-5 draw at Jacombs 'C'.  Mark Cohen and Alton Burnett kept Lodge Road on the promotion trail in a 6-4 success at Sutton 'G' and Beaufort Sports 'D' crushed Kingshurst Bribar 'F' 9-1.
