Kingshurst Bribar proved their superiority in the annual Maurice Goldstein Cup challenge clash, when the Birmingham League champions take on The Rest.  An emphatic 5-1 victory, with Warwickshire/Birmingham champion Scott Prime gaining three victories, although Ian Ferguson took him the distance.  The Prime/Ferguson clash which went to 11-9 in the fifth was an absolute classic between the top two players in the city.  Chris Leach played well for Kings to beat both Edward Lynn and Navinder Matharu, while Ferguson edged Michael Browne in another thrilling contest for the only win for The Rest.

Kingshurst retained their Birmingham League title by a massive 20 point margin.  Prime won the individual section, losing only to England veteran Ray Dixon during the campaign. Land Rover 'A' continued their recent yo-yo existence by being relegated, although Bournville 'A' can count themselves unlucky to be going down, after just one season in the top flight.

Hall Green 'B' romped away with Division One, with Land Rover 'B' just pipping Sutton 'A' for second spot.  There was a tremendous tussle for the individual crown, with the vastly experienced Roger Morris of Kingshurst Bribar 'D', sharing the individual title with county junior Nabil Khalfey (Sutton 'B').  Hall Green 'A' were well adrift at the bottom of the division, being joined by Sutton 'B'.

Dan Ranford had another excellent season, to lead Quinborne to Division Two success, with Sutton 'D' pipping Land Rover 'C' by just one point, to gain the other promotion spot.  In another fascinating individual battle, David Bissell of Streetly 'B' just got the better of Ranford and the consistent Martin Round of Sutton.  Walmley 'A' and Land Rover 'D' are the two teams to drop out of this section.

Rob Sheldon, Alan Thompson and Carl Mountjoy took the Division Three title for Beaufort Sports 'B', being joined by Sutton 'E' in Division Two in 2007/8.  Sutton's George Webb was the top dog in this section, as the former Essex junior made a welcome return to the sport.  Walmley 'B' will drop out of this division with Hall Green 'D'.

Beaufort Sports 'C' took Division Four by a massive 22 point margin from Walmley C'.  Ash Kapadia of Beaufort was in a class of his own individually, gaining 52/54, with the rest well adrift.  Hall Green 'E' and Colebridge Indians face the drop.

Mark Cohen won his first ever individual award in Division Five, with his Lodge Road side also becoming champions.  Land Rover 'F' go up with them, having enjoyed an unbeaten season, although their seven drawn matches cost them the title.

The Birmingham Summer League will again operate with three divisions.  The Curdworth club make a welcome return to competitive play and will field a star studded line-up.  Sasha Groghotov, Chris Burgess and Jason Essex have all been recruited by Curdworth team manager Phil Burwell.
