Kingshurst Bribar 'A' and Curdworth will resume hostilities, when the Birmingham Summer League gets under way next week.  Scott Prime and co had an easy ride in

retaining their Premier Division crown in the 2006/7 season, with their rivals omitted due to an administrative mix up.

Teenage sensation Sasha Groghotov, former Kingshurst star Jason Essex and Bristol Table Tennis Academy graduate Chris Burgess are amongst a host of top players joining the legendary Ian Ferguson in the Curdworth Division One squad.  "We have never played in the summer competition before," insisted Ferguson.  "This will be used as a warm up for next season.  Quite simply we want our title back."

"It was unfortunate that we were not allowed to play last season, but that is behind us now."

Current Summer Division One champions Streetly 'A' include Terry Cooper and Steve Taylor in their line-up, while Colebridge Hornets will provide a test for the top two, with Edward Lynn, Neil Wheatley and Dean Hicks on board.

Smithereens will face a stern challenge from Sandwell Unison to retain their Division Two crown.  Brian Morris, George Hutton and Ashley Saville-Boss are also playing for the first time in the competition for Unison.  Bournville, Sutton Coldfield 'B', Beaufort Sports 'B', Colebridge Bees and Colebridge Fireflies  are also in a very strong Division Two.

West Midlands Police, who include Paul Thomas in their Division Three squad, look a cut above the opposition in this section.  Baverstock, Kingshurst 'C' and Streetly 'B' will all be giving young players the opportunity of competitive competition.
